10-Year-Old to Graduate College with Two Degrees

Crafton Hills College is about to celebrate its youngest-ever graduate: 10-year-old Alisa Perales. The San Bernardino student is earning two associate degrees in science and mathematics—nearly unheard of for someone her age.

Alisa began homeschooling at just one year old and was already studying algebra by five. At age eight, she enrolled in college, surprising classmates who often mistook her for someone’s child tagging along. Despite being half the age of her peers, she maintained a near-perfect GPA.

Her journey wasn’t without challenges, especially socially, but her love for learning kept her focused. Now, Alisa hopes to continue her studies in computer science, with her sights set on Stanford University. She may be celebrating graduation this year but she’s only just getting started.
