Firefighters Go the Extra Mile and Save the Day Twice

Firefighters from the Fernandina Beach Fire Department recently responded to a bicycle accident involving a young boy whose foot was trapped between the spokes and frame of his bike. After carefully cutting the spokes to free him and ensuring he received medical care, the team took an extra step to brighten his day.

The firefighters decided to purchase a brand-new bike and helmet for the boy, surprising him at the hospital with their thoughtful gesture. The department shared a photo of the moment, expressing their pride in being able to help in more ways than one.

“This reminds us of what it truly means to care for our community,” the fire department shared. The act of kindness not only uplifted the boy and his family but also served as a reminder of the dedication and compassion of first responders.
