The That Dad Got His Baby’s Scars Tattooed

Eric and Cristina Conklin thought they had the perfect fairytale life until they learned their unborn son Bennett had a serious congenital heart defect that would require immediate surgery after birth. Baby Bennett was rushed to the NICU at just four days old, underwent his first heart surgery at two weeks, and even survived cardiac arrest that left him on life support for six terrifying days. The tiny fighter has endured two major heart surgeries in his first year of life, leaving him with prominent scars across his chest that will remind him forever of his early battles.

Instead of seeing those scars as something to hide, Eric decided to celebrate them in the most permanent way possible by getting an exact replica tattooed on his own chest. “I want to wear what he wears,” Eric explained, hoping that as Bennett grows up, he’ll look at his father and see someone who truly understands his journey. The meaningful ink represents not just Bennett’s physical scars but the emotional journey their entire family has traveled together. Eric’s tattoo transforms what could have been a source of shame into a powerful symbol of strength, proving that sometimes the most beautiful art comes from the deepest love between a father and his brave little son.
