Baby Hippo Becomes Star Attraction, Prompting Zoo Safety Enhancements

Moo Deng, a charming two-month-old pygmy hippo, has become an overnight sensation, causing visitor numbers to skyrocket at Thailand’s Khao Kheow Open Zoo. Her presence has boosted weekend attendance dramatically, with daily visitor counts rising from 3,000 to upwards of 7,000. However, the surge in popularity has led to some safety concerns, prompting the zoo to install CCTV cameras around Moo Deng’s habitat to deter inappropriate behavior from overzealous fans. In response to these challenges, zoo officials have issued stern warnings to ensure Moo Deng’s well-being and educate the public on respectful wildlife interaction, aiming to maintain a safe environment for this endangered species.
