A young boy in West Africa named Mamadou has regained his sight following transformative eye surgery aboard the Mercy Ships hospital ship, Global Mercy. Born with bilateral cataracts, Mamadou faced the risk of total blindness as local hospitals were unable to provide the necessary surgery. His life changed when the Global Mercy docked in Freetown, Sierra Leone, offering him a chance at free and safe surgery.
