Bright Future Restored for Young Boy in West Africa

A young boy in West Africa named Mamadou has regained his sight following transformative eye surgery aboard the Mercy Ships hospital ship, Global Mercy. Born with bilateral cataracts, Mamadou faced the risk of total blindness as local hospitals were unable to provide the necessary surgery. His life changed when the Global Mercy docked in Freetown, Sierra Leone, offering him a chance at free and safe surgery. Post-surgery, Mamadou is now able to engage in childhood activities like playing with toys and riding his toy motorcycle, experiencing a world of sight once again.
