Cat Finally Came Home After FOUR YEARS

Four years after losing her beloved cat Tinsel in December 2021, Maggie DeGreenia from Vermont was lucky enough to find her again through a local shelter’s website thanks to her cousin recognizing Tinsel’s distinctive mustache marking that everyone knew right away. The 27 year old had tried everything when Tinsel first disappeared, calling local shelters for weeks, searching by car and on foot, posting about her on Facebook groups, and putting up missing signs throughout the area until she eventually had to accept that her beloved pet was gone. DeGreenia had been living with Tinsel since 2017 when she adopted her from a shelter in Lunenburg, never imagining that four years after Tinsel mistakenly left her house she would get a life changing text message from her cousin. The cousin had been scrolling a local shelter’s website when she spotted a familiar face and immediately texted DeGreenia saying hey important I think I found Tinsel, and when DeGreenia saw the picture she started crying right away and couldn’t believe what she was seeing after so many years of grief.

DeGreenia called Riverside Rescue shelter as soon as she could while still crying to inform them what had happened, and when she rushed to the reunion Tinsel recognized her owner immediately in the most incredible moment. At the shelter Tinsel pressed her forehead against Maggie’s in a moving show of love that DeGreenia described as the most incredible feeling, proving that even after four years apart the bond between them had never been broken. The shelter explained that folks who had been caring for Tinsel until December had picked her up years earlier thinking she was a stray and then gave her up, meaning Tinsel had been living with another family for years before being surrendered and finally making her way back to the person who never stopped loving her.
