Clean Energy Is Booming Across the U.S.

From Texas wind farms to solar panels in California, clean energy is on a winning streak across the United States. New data shows that wind, solar, battery storage, and even geothermal energy are becoming cheaper, more widespread, and more reliable. In 2023, for the first time, the U.S. generated more electricity from wind and solar than from coal—a major milestone in the transition to cleaner energy sources. This growth is fueled by technological innovation, falling costs, and economic opportunity, rather than policy alone.

Electric vehicles are also gaining ground, and clean energy jobs have grown by 14% since 2020, adding 150,000 new roles in 2023 alone. States across the political spectrum are seeing the benefits: Texas, Iowa, and Oklahoma are now leaders in wind energy, while Utah is home to one of the most promising geothermal projects in the country. With the rise of grid-scale batteries and a surge in solar installations, experts say the transition to renewable energy isn’t just possible—it’s already happening.
