Dedication to Girlguiding Spans Six Decades

Marion Davies from Wiltshire has celebrated an incredible milestone—60 years as a Girlguiding leader. She began volunteering at age 18 and has stayed active ever since, leading countless young girls through camping trips, skill-building, and life lessons. Her dedication was recently honored with a service award presented by Time Team archaeologist and Wiltshire deputy lieutenant Phil Harding.

Marion’s passion for the outdoors and youth mentorship has inspired generations, with many of her former Guides still staying in touch. Remarkably, her two sisters also became leaders, and all three have now reached the six-decade mark. Alongside raising a family and working as a florist, Girlguiding became a lifelong calling. Reflecting on her journey, Marion says it’s been a joy—and she has no plans to stop anytime soon.
