Doctors Stunned by What Exercise Did for These Patients

A groundbreaking new study is changing how we look at cancer recovery and it starts with something as simple as a brisk walk. Researchers followed nearly 900 colon cancer patients over several years and found that those who engaged in regular, heart-pumping exercise were more likely to survive and remain cancer-free than those who didn’t.

Participants who committed to brisk activity three times a week like walking with purpose or swimming, saw survival rates jump to 90% after seven years. Even more compelling, 80% stayed cancer-free after five years. Scientists aren’t sure exactly why exercise has this powerful effect, but they’re already calling for movement to be a standard part of treatment. One thing’s clear: taking your health in stride might be one of the best things you can do for your future.
