High in the Himalayas: Daring Rescue of Two Climbers

American Michelle Dvorak and British Fay Manners faced harrowing conditions after losing crucial safety equipment while ascending Chaukhamba mountain in the Himalayas. The climbers endured severe weather and challenging terrain for three days without key gear due to a rock fall that severed their supply line. A combined rescue effort involving the Indian Air Force and a French mountaineering team successfully located and evacuated them by helicopter from an altitude of 17,400 feet. The successful rescue highlights the collaboration and skill of multiple teams, including the Indian Air Force, bringing the climbers safely back from their perilous situation on the mountain.
