Local Hero Fuels Holiday Spirit with Discounted Gas Prices

For over 45 years, Ernie Giannecchini, a former attorney and owner of Ernie’s Country Store in Stockton, California, has been giving back to his community in meaningful ways. This holiday season, he lowered gas prices to $3.49 per gallon—nearly a dollar less than nearby stations—helping customers save during a financially demanding time. His gesture has brought smiles to many faces, with families expressing gratitude for the extra savings they can use to buy gifts or cover essential expenses.

Known as the “best deli west of Italy,” Ernie’s store is more than just a gas station; it’s a hub for groceries, Italian delicacies, and community warmth. A proud son of Italian immigrants, Ernie’s childhood memories of simple holiday treats like amaretto cookies inspire his generosity. “It feels like being Santa Claus,” he says, reflecting on the joy he brings to his multi-cultural neighborhood.

Ernie’s connection to his customers runs deep, with many sharing how his kindness has eased their burdens, from commuting costs to unexpected medical bills. Now 76, Ernie shows no signs of slowing down, saying, “People keep me going and make me feel young.” As he continues to embody the spirit of giving, Ernie is a true example of holiday magic in action.
