Seeing Clearly Now: Bloodhound Luca Gets Life-Changing Facelift

Luca, a 6-year-old bloodhound, regained his ability to see after undergoing a facelift to correct the excessive drooping of his skin that impaired his vision. Known for their distinctive wrinkly skin, Luca’s condition was exacerbated by the weight of his ears and loss of skin elasticity, causing his folds to cover his eyes and lead to frequent collisions with household objects. His owner, Sheilah Needham, decided on surgery at Veterinary Vision in Sunderland, England, where a five-hour rhytidectomy facelift was performed to reposition the skin and restore Luca’s sight. Post-surgery, Luca’s quality of life has significantly improved, allowing him to navigate his environment safely and enjoy his surroundings once again.
