Thailand Poised to Recognize Same-Sex Marriage

Thailand is on the brink of a historic milestone as it moves closer to becoming the first nation in Southeast Asia to legally recognize same-sex marriage. Following a resounding vote of approval from 130 of the 152 senators, the marriage equality bill is now awaiting endorsement from King Maha Vajiralongkorn, which is expected to be a formality. This landmark legislation, which equates the legal rights of LGBTQ+ and straight couples, marks the culmination of two decades of persistent advocacy by activists.
