The Famous Dog Bus That’s Helping Disabled People Find Their Dream Jobs

Every morning in Boonah, Queensland, the happiest and most chaotic school bus in Australia rolls through town, packed with 63 dogs heading to their own adventure paradise at IronBark DogPark. Jo Mcvilly’s innovative dog daycare program has become a TikTok sensation with over 3 million views, but the real magic happens when young people with disabilities discover their dream careers working alongside these four-legged friends. For staff members like Sage Conway-Keogh, who is hearing-impaired, the program transformed her from participant to trainee groomer, proving that when you combine passion with opportunity, incredible things happen. The dogs serve as natural conversation starters and anxiety reducers, helping people connect in ways that traditional settings often can’t achieve.

Participants like Amber Kaats, who has an acquired brain injury, find that smaller dogs like Charchi the chihuahua give her confidence and calm that extends far beyond the dog park gates. Jo’s mission goes deeper than just dog care, she’s creating a space where everyone can thrive regardless of their abilities, while getting people “outside and connected” in a rural community where isolation can be challenging. The program addresses the paired challenge of loneliness and disability, giving families something to look forward to while providing meaningful employment opportunities. As Jo explains, while her aim is to help dogs find their happy place, the beautiful result is that humans discover theirs too, creating a cycle of joy that radiates from rural Queensland to screens around the world.

Within just a few decades, heavy hunting by

Most people learned Newton’s Third Law of Motion in school: for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction, which is why rockets can launch, baseballs can bounce, and the simple act of walking is possible at all. But physicists at New York University have now created something that

For more than 40 years, a quiet army of women in Japan has been doing something far more important than delivering bottles of probiotic drinks to doorsteps. The Yakult Ladies, as they are known, began as a simple door-to-door sales program started in 1963, giving women flexible work while bringing
