The International Cat Who Crossed Borders and Found His Way Home

A French cat named Ushuaia has been reunited with his owner after vanishing more than a year ago and mysteriously turning up 1,200 miles away in the UK. Discovered in a British warehouse after an apparent journey through three countries and seven counties, the adventurous feline had stowed away in a lorry traveling from Italy.

Nicknamed “Pierre” by the staff at Southwater Vets in Telford, he was treated for minor health issues before a microchip revealed his true identity. With the help of Google Translate, vets contacted his owner, Nicole Souillard, who was overjoyed to learn her cat had survived and made it across the Channel. After a brief quarantine and plenty of TLC, Ushuaia is now safe, healthy, and back in France—proving that microchips really can bring families back together.
