The Man with a Sign That’s Changing Lives, One Conversation at a Time

Paul Jenkinson has traded in retirement for a folding table, two chairs, and a sign that reads, “You are not alone. I will listen.” The 70-year-old former social worker is traveling across Canada simply to offer strangers the gift of being heard—no appointments, no fees, no judgment. Whether it’s a passing student, someone at a crossroads, or a volunteer with stories to share, Jenkinson welcomes them all.

He brings decades of personal and professional experience to each conversation, but insists he’s not there to fix anything—just to listen. People are often hesitant at first, but once they sit down, they open up about everything from grief to gratitude. Jenkinson’s tour is fueled by donations and goodwill, and he plans to keep going as long as he’s invited and has a place to stay. His mission is simple: to remind people that their voice matters, and they’re not alone.
