The Nova Scotia Kid Genius Who Outsmarts Most of his Elders

When Elijah Motey started counting before he could even talk, his parents knew something was different. Now six years old, the Nova Scotia boy has become one of the youngest members of Mensa Canada, placing in the top one percent of intelligence for his age.

Elijah’s early milestones came fast—he rolled over before four weeks old, walked at nine months, and showed a deep love for numbers before his first birthday. After private testing confirmed his extraordinary abilities, Elijah joined Mensa at just five years old. He’s now one of only eight children under 14 in Atlantic Canada to receive that honor. But for all his brilliance, Elijah is still a typical kid who loves pancakes, soccer, and cheering for Chelsea. His parents say the goal isn’t pressure, it’s encouragement—celebrating who he is and letting his talents shine. In their words, “He’s going to do amazing things in this world.”
