The Proposals At These Olympics Are Breaking The Internet

It turns out the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan have been just as exciting off the slopes as on them, because love has been breaking out all over Italy and athletes keep getting down on one knee. At least four proposals have taken place in and around the Games, turning the already electric atmosphere of the Olympics into something that feels a little bit like the world’s most romantic setting. American Alpine skier Breezy Johnson, who had already won gold days earlier, said yes to her boyfriend right at the super-G finish line after her race, making an already unforgettable Games even more personal. Ukrainian freestyle skier Kateryna Kotsar received her surprise proposal from her boyfriend just minutes after qualifying for the big air final, still buzzing from her athletic achievement when he popped the question in Ukrainian with shaking hands and the sweetest nervous energy.

Figure skater Olivia Smart and former rival Jean-Luc Baker, who had competed against each other for years on the ice, got engaged on the romantic streets of Milan on Valentine’s Day after a decade of friendship that quietly turned into something much more. Team USA ice hockey star Hilary Knight made her final Olympic Games one to remember forever when she got down on one knee for fellow Olympian and speedskater Brittany Bowe, who she had fallen in love with while taking nightly walks together through the Olympic Village four years earlier. Knight wrote on Instagram that the Olympics first brought them together and that this one made them forever. With medals, memories, and now multiple engagements, the Milan Games have given the world a reminder that sometimes the most extraordinary moments happen not on the podium but in the quiet spaces in between.
