The Truth Behind These Famous Weekend Cinnamon Rolls

Pam and Doug Johse spend their weekends at pop up markets across suburban Texas selling sourdough banana muffins, chocolate chunk cookies, and Texas sized cinnamon rolls with a sign that reads Loaves of Love. The 34 year old couple learned in August 2023 that it would be medically unsafe for Pam to have children, sending them on an emotional journey toward adoption that revealed a shocking price tag of $40,000 to $50,000. Working as civil servants for the Harris County Toll Road Authority and earning slightly over $100,000 a year, the couple simply didn’t have an extra $15,000 lying around for the initial deposit needed to enter the adoption pipeline in early 2026.

So they transformed Pam’s love of baking into a side hustle, loading their little red SUV with coolers full of treats and setting up at kid friendly venues where they share their story with every customer. Doug tells people they’re trying to grow their family through adoption while offering cookie samples, and customers often respond with tears, generous purchases, and even anonymous donations like the $1,000 they received one week. Pam wears a shirt with Future Mommy written between her shoulder blades, though watching mothers dance with their babies at markets sometimes brings tears she struggles to hold back. The couple has met adoptive families, people who were adopted themselves, and countless supporters who buy muffins and cinnamon rolls while offering prayers and encouragement, helping the Johses feel less alone as they bake their way toward bringing home the child they’ve dreamed of.
