This Bookstore Is Changing Cat Lives One Adoption At A Time

The Book Man bookstore in British Columbia has created something magical by partnering with five local rescue agencies to help cats find their forever homes. Every day, adoptable cats wearing special Adopt Me collars wander the aisles, greeting customers who browse through the store’s vast collection of books. A special cat window at the front of the store features one or two cats in the evenings who roam freely during the day, giving potential adopters the perfect opportunity to meet their future feline family members.

The innovative program has already helped dozens of cats find loving homes by providing a calm, social environment where shy cats can build confidence around people. Rescue partners work carefully to select friendly kitties who can handle the bustling bookstore atmosphere and enjoy interacting with visitors. Customers are welcome to come and give the cats attention even if they’re not ready to adopt, creating a win win situation where cats get socialization and humans get furry companionship. The store proudly displays adoptable cats on a sandwich board outside, making it easy for anyone passing by to know there are precious lives waiting inside for their chance at happiness.
