For the first time in its history, the village of Woburn has awarded its highest honor to a long-serving community volunteer. Gill Green, 86, was named Freewoman of Woburn in recognition of her remarkable 36 years of service. The accolade was presented by the Duke of Bedford, marking a milestone for both Green and the village. Over the decades, she has led countless local initiatives, including heritage preservation, garden festivals, and community clubs. She has also contributed to local publications and played a major role in organizing village events. The decision to honor her was unanimous among council members, who praised her dedication and leadership. As she begins to step back from some responsibilities, her legacy continues to inspire the next generation of volunteers.
