Travis Kelce Is Coming Back For Historic 14th Season

Chiefs Kingdom, breathe easy. Travis Kelce has informed the Kansas City Chiefs he is returning for a 14th NFL season, ending weeks of retirement speculation and keeping one of the greatest tight ends in football history in the building alongside coach Andy Reid and quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Kelce was set to become an unrestricted free agent this week but made his decision just ahead of the free agency window opening, choosing loyalty over more lucrative offers from other teams. NFL Network insider reported Kelce is expected to take a pay cut, returning on a deal worth approximately $10 million for the 2026-27 season.

Even after a tough 6-11 campaign last year, Kelce’s production remained elite. He led Kansas City in targets (108), receptions (76), receiving yards (851), touchdowns (five), and yards after the catch (424). Late in the season, he became just the third tight end in NFL history to surpass 13,000 career receiving yards, reaching the milestone faster than any player at the position before him. He was also voted to the Pro Bowl for the 11th consecutive year. The Chiefs are already building around their returning legend, agreeing to terms on Monday with reigning Super Bowl MVP running back Kenneth Walker III, giving Mahomes and Kelce a dangerous new offensive weapon. With Kelce back and Walker joining the backfield, Kansas City is making one thing crystal clear: the championship window is still wide open. “I just love this team,” Kelce said after the season finale. “I’ve got so much love for this team, this organization and the people here.”
