Bruno Mars Is Back With His First Solo Album In 10 Years

The wait is finally over. Bruno Mars dropped his highly anticipated fourth solo studio album, The Romantic, today on Atlantic Records. This is his first solo release since 24K Magic in 2016, a full decade in the making. The nine-track collection is a lush, groove-driven love letter to vintage soul, pulling from cha-cha, bossa nova, funk, and new jack swing to create a warm, dancefloor-ready atmosphere that only Bruno could deliver. Clocking in at just over 31 minutes, not a second is wasted. Critics are already responding enthusiastically, with AllMusic awarding the album four out of five stars and calling it a collection of “nine finely crafted love songs.” The lead single, “I Just Might,” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in January—his 10th career chart-topper—and is still holding strong in the top 10, proving that a decade away from solo music did nothing to dim his star power.

The Romantic is just the beginning of what’s shaping up to be a massive year for Mars. He wowed fans at the 68th Grammy Awards earlier this month in Los Angeles, and now he’s gearing up for The Romantic Tour—a 71-show stadium run kicking off April 10 in Las Vegas before sweeping North America and then heading to Europe for stops in Paris, Berlin, and London. Anderson .Paak, RAYE, Victoria Monét, and Leon Thomas will all join on various legs. With seven RIAA Diamond-certified singles and 10 Billboard Hot 100 number ones, Bruno Mars isn’t just back—he’s reminding everyone exactly why he never really left.
