Chichester Resident Turns Humor into a Campaign for Change

A local resident, known only as “Carp,” has launched a playful campaign to highlight Chichester’s “fun deficit” through satirical signs placed across the city. With messages like “Unauthorized Leaf Shedding is Prohibited” and “Coffee Control Area,” Carp combines humor with a call to action, encouraging residents to rethink overregulation and the lack of amenities for younger generations. His signs, which have gained viral attention on social media, aim to draw attention to broader issues like poor infrastructure and limited nightlife options for youth.

While Carp’s efforts have sparked smiles and discussions, the Chichester District Council asserts the city is already vibrant, citing events like laser light shows and upcoming investments in play areas. Carp hopes his campaign will inspire a shift toward a more inclusive city for all age groups, emphasizing the power of humor to unite and disarm. “Whether it’s a smile or sparking a conversation, I feel like I’m contributing to a better Chichester,” he says.
