Groundbreaking Nanoknife Surgery Helps Two-Year-Old Beat Cancer

Two-year-old George from Camden, North London, has become a beacon of hope after being declared cancer-free following a revolutionary treatment. Diagnosed in 2023 with rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare soft tissue cancer, George underwent three rounds of chemotherapy before receiving state-of-the-art Nanoknife surgery at King’s College Hospital.

This cutting-edge procedure uses electrical currents to target and destroy cancerous cells, allowing for precise removal with clear margins. George was the youngest person globally to undergo the treatment and the first child in the UK to have it performed on his liver.

The successful operation, performed on the NHS, has inspired optimism in the medical community. Dr. Sam Godfrey of Cancer Research UK called it a “groundbreaking surgical treatment that will inform the care of children worldwide.”
