McDonald’s Brings Back Most Requested Happy Meal Toy

McDonald’s announced it is bringing back the Changeables Happy Meal featuring nostalgic toys originally launched in 1987 that transform from McDonald’s menu items like French fries into robots and dinosaurs, marking the return of what the company calls “the most requested” Happy Meal toy from the past. The Changeables officially came back to McDonald’s restaurants on Tuesday with fans able to collect one of 16 different toys that transform into classic McDonald’s icons, giving kids and grownups alike the chance to relive the beloved toys that first stole fans’ hearts in the late ’80s and early ’90s. McDonald’s Senior Marketing Director Guillaume Huin posted that the new Changeables feature updated versions of both robot and dinosaur designs from the original three Happy Meal programs released in 1987, 1989 and 1990, explaining that Changeables were by far the most requested Happy Meal program across social media and through customer service. Each toy comes in a box with a trading card including a fun fact and catch phrase, such as Vash which is a Chicken McNuggets four piece that transforms into a purple dinosaur with the catchphrase “Big McNugget energy.”

The full list of 16 Changeables are available for a limited time. McDonald’s customers will receive one Changeables toy per Happy Meal similar to the Disney Happy Meal collectibles launch, with the toy you receive appearing to be randomized though it might be possible to request a specific Changeables toy at your McDonald’s location since each toy comes in a box with its image on the front making each one easily identifiable to employees. This iconic release comes as McDonald’s announced major company changes to build on customer loyalty and expand its footprint by opening 8,000 new restaurants globally in 2026, proving the fast food giant knows exactly what fans want when it comes to nostalgic collectibles that bring back childhood memories.
