Mexico Pioneers Breakthrough HPV Treatment

Dr. Eva Ramón Gallegos, a researcher in Mexico, has successfully eradicated HPV in 29 patients using a groundbreaking photodynamic therapy. This non-invasive technique not only eliminates the virus but also targets premalignant cervical lesions before they develop into cancer.

Her method involves applying delta-aminolevulinic acid to the cervix, which transforms into a fluorescent substance that destroys infected cells when activated by a special laser—without harming healthy tissue. In her study, HPV was eliminated in 100% of patients without lesions and significantly reduced in those with early-stage abnormalities.

Unlike traditional treatments, photodynamic therapy minimizes side effects, but researchers are conducting long-term studies to refine its use. If widely adopted, this breakthrough could revolutionize cervical cancer prevention, offering a safer, more targeted alternative to conventional treatments.
