Royal Recognition for Decades of Service in Luton

A Sikh charity in Luton has received the prestigious King’s Award for Voluntary Service, the UK’s highest honor for community groups. Shri Guru Ravidass Sangat was recognized for its decades of support to vulnerable residents, including the delivery of over 21,000 hot meals during the pandemic. For the past 25 years, the organization has also run a weekly lunch club that brings people together from all walks of life. Over its 40-year history, the gurdwara has offered free legal aid, cooking classes, and sewing workshops to help locals gain valuable skills.

Volunteers have long been praised for their tireless dedication and welcoming spirit across cultures, ages, and faiths. Leaders of the group expressed deep gratitude for the royal recognition, calling it a reflection of collective community care. The award was announced on King Charles’ birthday alongside other honorees from across the UK.
