Scarlett Johansson Spoils Shelter Dog On Spa Date

Scarlett Johansson had no idea her blind date would be a 12 year old pittie mix named Ocean who had been rescued from an overcrowded New York City shelter just months earlier. Johansson was part of a video series that pairs celebrities with rescue dogs who need homes, using star power to shine a spotlight on adoptable pets who might otherwise be overlooked because of their age or breed. Ocean arrived at The Outset office, Scarlett’s skincare company, where the actress greeted her new friend with a stuffed bouquet of red roses that Ocean immediately grabbed and happily tore apart with pure joy. The two started out a little shy and nervous to meet each other, but Ocean warmed up almost immediately and they spent the afternoon bonding over spa treatments including a dog friendly smoothie, a mani pedi, and plenty of cuddles and snuggles. At one point Scarlett tried the classic spa move of placing cucumber slices over Ocean’s eyes, but the clever pup had different ideas and decided the cucumbers made a much better snack than a beauty treatment.

By the end of their dream date, Scarlett couldn’t understand why such an adorable and cuddly dog was still looking for a family, telling Ocean she would have no problem finding her forever home. The prediction came true faster than anyone expected when Ocean was adopted into a loving home shortly after the video was released, proving that sometimes all a senior shelter dog needs is a little celebrity spotlight to find their perfect match. Scarlett, who has rescued two dogs of her own named Maggie and Pancake over the years, hopes Ocean’s story will inspire more people to consider adopting older pets who have so much love left to give.
