This Chef Buttered 10 Slices Of Bread In 16 Seconds, A New World Record

Zeinab Bance is a chef and mother of three from Côte d’Ivoire, which means she knows her way around a kitchen. But on March 17, she took a task most people do on autopilot every morning and turned it into something extraordinary: she buttered 10 slices of bread in just 16.65 seconds, shattering the previous Guinness World Records record by over four full seconds and earning the title of fastest time to butter 10 slices of bread. Her setup was meticulous — five slices arranged on top, five on the bottom, butter at exactly the right consistency, large knife at the ready. “My speed relies on organization, repetition of movements, and thorough preparation,” she said. Not bad for a task the average person considers a Tuesday morning chore.

But Zeinab wasn’t done. On the same day, she switched from butter to peanut butter and powered through 10 more slices in 25.70 seconds, earning a second Guinness World Records title for fastest time to spread peanut butter on 10 slices of bread. Two world records in one afternoon. And when it was all over, she didn’t let a single slice go to waste: every piece of bread was eaten by the witnesses, timekeepers, and photographers who helped make it happen. “The buttered bread is consumed by my support team to avoid waste,” Zeinab said. She is a chef, a world record holder, and apparently an excellent host. “I want to convey a message of perseverance and ambition,” she added. Mission absolutely accomplished.
