Three Wins, Nine Months, $2.5 Million

Some people dream of winning the lottery once. David Serkin from Lethbridge, Alberta, has now done it three times—collecting a staggering $2.5 million in under a year. The retired cancer survivor’s most recent win came from a $1 million ticket he casually picked up while getting gas.

The odds of such a streak are nearly impossible, but Serkin isn’t letting the shock wear him down. After claiming his prize, he celebrated with coffee and a trip to Hawaii, with another vacation already on the horizon. He says he’ll keep playing for fun, not expectation. For him, the joy comes in the hope—and maybe, just maybe, the luck. As he puts it: “You never know when your number’s up… in a good way.”
